 About Me
For as long as I can remember, I have always had two loves: computing and photography. I remember hacking away on my Commodore Vic 20, and am now a computer programmer delving deeply into Microsoft technology such as .Net framework and C#.

I also remember taking photos and I still have my first set of photos from a Grade 5 camp in 1988. I got back into taking photos after purchasing a digital Kodak D3200. This was my first digital camera and resulted in some very crappy photos. Laggy shutter, small photos, less than ideal flash. Needless to say I was hooked on the "digital workflow" (not that I knew it was called that then).

Before my trip to Nepal trekking through the Everest region in 2004 I upgraded to a Canon Powershot Pro 1. This is a brilliant little camera and it took me a while to reach my limits on it. But the time has come and I am in the midst of upgrading to a Canon 400D.

My first love is landscapes and nature photography. Portraits also interest me, but I have not had the necessary camera equipment to investigate that so have put it off. But I am purchasing a lens with the 400D which will allow me to start down the portrait road. I also have plans to get in to sports photography, but this will require a very expensive lens to capture the action, and also make sure I am a fairly safe distance away from it. So perhaps I am starting to turn into a jack-of-all trades photographer. I think I would like to avoid weddings though. Too much stress!!!

 Clubs Minimize
I am a member of the Brisbane Photography website club. Very active group of members, ranging across landscape, sports, models, architecture and cityscape photographers. There are also quite a few models involved as well, and theme shoots are organised regularly as well. www.brisbanephotography.com.

I have also joined the Brisbane Camera Group, which is formally affiliated with the Queensland Photographic Society and the Australian Photographic Society. They have fairly active meetings with up to 120 people attending the meetings. I have also entered the prints competition, but am going to sit through a few monthly competitions before I enter anything. Book discounts, tutorials at the meetings, all good stuff. www.brisbanecameragroup.org.au
